Dear SHARC Members

Gary Wellborn has graciously applied for and received a new Website Domain name.
Our old one has been used by another club.
The new name is www.sharc-ca.org
Gary is interested in helping with our website and would like to update the membership list.  He wants to know if it is all right to publish addresses, telephone numbers and call signs.  Please let me know if this is all right.  If not, we will just post the call sign as that is public information.

Garberville Rotary has given the Southern Humboldt Emergency Planning Committee a generous donation to help install an up to date 2 meter and packet radio communication station at CDF.  Smitty and Gladys Smith, Dan Gribi, Gary Wellborn, Jerry and Nancy Wilson, Lamar Hudson and Mike Pratt (from the Jerold Phelps Hospital) met and made up a list of basic equipment needed for the new station.  Jack Foster is looking the list over and with his input we will begin purchasing equipment in a couple of weeks.

On November 13, 2003 there was a drill at the Hospital.  The scenario was a large outbreak of pneumonic plague at a public event.  Mike Pratt and our new HAM Patti Rose were able to use the packet station in the Dimmick room to send some information to Eureka.  They did an excellent job for the first try.  No other hospital used packet.  Gary Wellborn, Nancy and Jerry Wilson observed.

We are planning our holiday get together at the Wilson's.  The date is December 10, 2003 at 6:30 P.M. and will be announced on the Monday night NET.  If you miss the NET and want to attend call us at 923-2407.  Traditionally we have the December SHARC meeting at the party.  This gives us a chance to meet face to face.  All of those who participate in SHARC meetings will be eligible for the raffle.

Have a wonderful holiday season.

Nancy R. Wilson, SHARC President
